How can my site participate?

S T O P - READ THIS FIRST

Only Federally recognized American Indian Tribes will be accepted to our "webring". This webring is for TRIBES ONLY (like the Seminole Tribe of Florida), NOT TRIBE RELATED sites such as personal homepages. Tribe related sites can, however, be listed on our Other Links page, if they contain valuable information about Federally Recognized American Indians.

If your webpage has tribe related content and you'd like a link on our "Other Links" page, send email to webadmin@semtribe.com. Otherwise, IF YOUR WEBPAGE REPRESENTS A TRIBE, PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

1) Submit your site for inclusion
2) Await notification
3) Download the image file for the Indian Circle Logo
4) Insert the Webring HTML
5) Read our tips for successful web ring sites

Download The Image

Save this image to your computer (Mac's drag the image to the desktop. PC's right click on the image and select "Save As").

Once the image is on your computer, place it on your web server where you keep your images. Make a note of the location where you saved it. You will need to insert the path information in the web ring HTML code fragment.

Insert the Web Ring HTML

Copy this HTML code and insert it into your homepage document. Place this code prominently on your home page, in order to facilitate navigating to other sites on the ring.

<!-- Begin Indian Circle HTML Code --><CENTER> <a href="http://www.indiancircle.com" target="_top"> <IMG SRC="--Location of graphic--" WIDTH=200 HEIGHT=65 BORDER=0></a><BR> <FONT SIZE="2"> Want to join <A HREF="http://www.indiancircle.com" target="_top">Indian Circle</A>?</FONT><P><FONT Size=2><B> [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=americanindians;id=_SITE_ID_HERE_;sprev" target="_top">Skip Prev</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=americanindians;id=_SITE_ID_HERE_;prev" target="_top">Prev</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=americanindians;id=_SITE_ID_HERE_;next" target="_top">Next</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=americanindians;id=_SITE_ID_HERE_;skip" target="_top">Skip Next</a>] <BR> [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=americanindians;id=_SITE_ID_HERE_;next5" target="_top">Next 5</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?random;ring=americanindians" target="_top">Random</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=americanindians;list" target="_top">List Sites</a>] </B></FONT></CENTER> <!-- End Indian Circle HTML Code -->

Once you've inserted the code, make TWO changes to the inserted block:

  1. Change the single occurance of "--Location of graphic--" to reflect the path of the image file you just downloaded.
  2. Change all occurrences of "_SITE_ID_HERE_" to the unique site ID number that was emailed to you with your web ring confirmation message.
Save the HTML document and place it on your server. Be sure to test the links and ensure that the path to the logo is correct.

This is what the Indian Circle logo should look like once you've inserted the Web Ring Code:

Helpful Tips

  1. Minimize the use of large graphics (32K or less).
  2. Make use of the HEIGHT and WIDTH tags in your IMG SRC lines. This prevents the browser from "stalling" while it figures out how much screen real estate to allocate to your images.
  3. Place the Indian Circle Logo in a prominent place on your homepage to facilitate easy navigation.
  4. If your site will be down for an extended period of time notify the Ringmaster.
